CASTING CALL!

We are looking for 5 gorgeous wonderful actors to help bring 'The Rug of Identity: A Lesbian Farce for the Ages' to life! The show is a revival of Jill Fleming's 1986 masterpiece of camp sapphic satire - reviews of the original production include such quotes as:

'one of the most sublimely ludicrous plays I will have ever sat still for'
'uncomfortable in its insights and cruelly funny'
or best of all: 'a lesbian Fawlty Towers or transexual wet dream'

In-person auditions will take place on the 21st of January. If you'd like to audition, please fill out the Google form linked below by the 17th of January so we can allocate you a time:

We will be accepting self-tapes until the 21st of January and recalls will take place in person on the 28th of January. We are not accepting self-tapes for the re-calls as we will be chemistry testing.

The show and rehearsals will be in Manchester, so please do not audition if you will not be able to regularly attend.

We are a community theatre organisation, and the production will be based on a profit-sharing arrangement.

We are especially keen to build a diverse cast of queer people, as the project was born from creative connection and collaboration between queer women of different generations - the rich diversity of the queer experience is central to our understanding of what queer theatre is, and is in our view what makes this show interesting! Therefore we want to encourage actors or non-actors from all ages and all backgrounds to apply - if you like the look of the project, we'd love to meet you!
